Notes for Howard Cornelius ("Cat") Hall
His obituary in the Morehead News read "Howard C. "Cat" Hall, 80, of Hall Road, Clearfield, died Saturday, Feb. 4 [1995] at St. Claire Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1914, in Rowan County to the late George and Nancy Quisenberry Hall. A member of the Church of God, he had been employed at the Lee Clay Products Co. as a Yard Foreman for over 30 years, was a former distributor for Cedar Hill Dairy and was a former security guard at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Workman Hall, whom he married Nov. 28, 1936; six sons, Clifton Hall of Nashville, Tenn., Asa G. Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nathaniel L. Hall of Dayton, Ohio, Kenny Hall of Morehead, Howard C. Hall Jr. of Brooksville and John David Hall of Lexington. Two daughters, Loreda Hall of Clearfield and Dr. Mauverine Hall Napier of Hickory, N.C.; a brother, Harlan Hall of Wabash, Ind., two sisters, Laura Lambert of Clearfield and Florence Pettit of Deming, N.M. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. A grandson, Kenneth Ray Hall Jr., preceded him in death on April 26, 1990. Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mitchell W. Burch and the Rev. Ben Furman officiating, with burial at the Lee Cemetery."

Her obituary in the Morehead News read "Gertrude Jewel Workman Hall, 85, of 56 H Hall Road, Clearfield, died Sunday evening, March 8, [1998] at the Life Care Center, Morehead. She was born June 30, 1912 at Rowan County to the late Nathan and Viola Skaggs Workman. She was a member of the Church of God and retired from Morehead State University where she worked in the cafeteria at Breckinridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. "Cat" Hall on Feb. 4, 1995; one grandson, Kenneth Ray Hall; two brothers, Harlan and Allie Workman and two sisters, Carry Bell Workman and Ada Maree Workman. Surviving are six sons, Clifton Hall of Nashville, Tenn., Asa G. Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nathaniel L. Hall of Brookville, Ohio, Kenneth Hall of Morehead, Howard C. Hall Jr. of Brooksville and John David Hall of Lexington; two daughters, Loreda Hall of Clearfield and Dr. Mauverine Hall Napier of Hickory, N.C.; three brothers, Robert Workman of Clearfield, Clyde Workman of Morehead and Herman Workman of Clearfield; one sister, Isalene Caudill of Selma, Ind. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Furman officiating with burial at the Lee Cemetery."
