| I have written the following query to Elza Cox concerning some data in his Genealogy of William Tobias Phillips, "On page 13 you write that Sallie Cox, wife of Anderson C. Phillips, was born about 1827, d/o Luke Cox and Sarah Worrell Phillips Cox. On page 4, you give 1836 as the date of death for Sarah Worrell's first husband, John C. Phillips. (You have this same date on your pedigree chart for Leaner Duncan on p. 47, Vol. 5, No. 3 of the Newsletter.) If John died in 1836, how is it that Sallie could be born in 1827 to Sarah and Luke (I am assuming that divorce was not likely in that era)? Was John's date of death perhaps 1826? Does he appear in the 1830 census?" |
