His obituary in the Morehead News says "Atley W. Adkins, 72, of Medway, Ohio, formerly of Morehead, died of a heart attack Sept. 25 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. A native of Rowan Co., he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Adkins and a member of the Church of God in Medway. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Brewer Adkins; three daughters, Brenda Renner, Medway, Phyllis Jean Helton, Fairborn, Ohio; Reva Joyce Anderson, Hillsboro, Ohio; one son, Dr. Atley Dale Adkins, Pikeville; three brothers, Eddie Adkins, Moorehaven, Fla., Asa Adkins, Goodless, Mich., and Clayton Adkins, Ft. Meyers, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Hanses and Ivory Mae Butler, both of Clearfield; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 28 at the Lane-Stucky Funeral Home with the Rev. E. L. Taulbee officiating. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Lee Lewis Jr., Winford Charles, Denvil Hanes, Glen Fields, Gene Helton, Donnie Pettit, and Joe Howard." |
