| The published index to the 1830 census of Kentucky lists in Shelby Co., p. 195, line 12, "Oleannion Petill*", the asterisk being an indicator of an illegible entry. When I looked at this census, it was pretty clear to me that it read Obannion Petitt. 2 m 15-19, 3 m 20-29, 1 f < 5, 1 f 20-29. This seems to be an unusually large number of young men for one household, especially since O'Bannon's only known brother, Simon, would have been 37 and thus is not part of this household. Perhaps a boarding house? (In the margin of the page was written "South side of Main Street in Shelbyville.") |
