| Notes for Sally Jones |
This may be the daughter age 15-19 in the 1830 census for William Jones son of Ambrose Jones. The Thomas Nickell family and the Ambrose Jones family were both in Greenbrier Co., Virginia in the late 1700's, but Ambrose Jones Sr. has no daughter named Sally (the full list of his children is known from bible records.) Another possibility is that she is one of the three daughters in the same age bracket listed with the family of William Jones and Sarah Mauzy. But if she is the daughter of either of those William Jones, then she would be rather young to be marrying a 66 year old man. So more likely she is the widow of some Jones.
Her death about 1834 is only assumed from Thomas's remarriage in November 1835. Unfortunately, the brevity of the marriage means that I can't catch the couple in any census to get a closer estimate of Sally's age. |
