Morgan County marriage register book 1 on LDS microfilm #839,918 records the marriage on April 15, 1852 of Elisha Akins and Susan Whitt, by P. Kendall, witnesses Moses Whitt and Martin Whitt.
The place of birth for all the children of this family is often given as Elliott County on documents such as their marriage records or those of their children, but Elliott County was not formed until the summer of 1869. So only William and the younger children were really born in Elliott County.
(This family is not related to me, and unlike most of the unrelated families in my database, they did not even have any children who married blood relatives of mine. Their daughter Piety was in my database because her son Elisha B. Tolliver married my 1C2R Nettie Hall. Their daughter Catherine and son Jason Brackston were in my database because they or a child married into the "allied family" of Harvey Trent and Rena Lambert. And their daughter Eliza Jane was in my database because she married David Allen Black, a stepson of my GGG Grandmother Martha Ann Riddle Clark Black. The rest of the family is entered in consideration for visitors to my Rowan County web site, who might be disappointed to find a partial family group entered.) |
