Notes for Benjamin & Nancy (Family)
In the history of Washington Co., Tennessee is an article which isays "When Judge David Campbell executed a warrant for the arrest of John Sevier for high treason, on October 10th, 1788 Col. John Tipton and some of his militia officers started searching for Sevier who was at the home of Ruth Brown, widow of Sevier's good friend Jacob Brown, and mother of Benjamin Brown who married Sevier's daughter Nancy. When Mrs. Brown saw Tipton coming, she took her loaded gun and refused them entry to the House. Sevier saw Robert Love outside and surrendered to him, which made Tipton so angry that he swore to hang Sevier."

Nancy, however was married to Walter King from at least 1797 through 1813, and had nine children by him during that time. So either she married Benjamin King second, after 1813, or else the history book was confusing him with Jacob & Ruth Brown's son Berryman Brown who married John Sevier's daughter Polly.
