Census Notes for John William Riddle
1830 census of Bath Co., KY, p. 228, line 27, records this family as:
John Riddle, 1 male 20-29 yrs, 1 female 20-29 yrs, 1 male under 5.

1840 census of Bath Co., KY lists this family as:
1 male 30-39 yrs, 1 female 20-29 yrs, 1 female 10-14 yrs, 1 male 5-9 yrs, 1 female 5-9 yrs, 1 male 0-4 yrs, 2 females 0-4 yrs. If the numbers are correct, they suggest a daughter born before 1830.

I have not found this family in 1850. I would expect them to be in Morgan or Bath, but they aren't listed there. I should check Fleming Co - the marriage record of Martha Riddle & John B. Clark lists her place of birth as Fleming Co., which is almost certainly wrong, but may indicate that the family spent some time there when she was young.

1860 census of Rowan Co., KY (June 11), lists on p. 14, family #101:
John Riddle, 51; Mary A., 47; Commodore, 12; Nancy, 11; Sarah R., 8; John, 4. Mary A. born in New York, all others in Ky. The entry is hard to read; it is possible that the ages for John and Mary are 52 and 49.

1870 census of Rowan County, KY, Pearce Precinct, page 1, lists:
Riddle, John: 62, Adeline: 60, Sarah: 18, John: 15. Adeline b. in New York, all others born in KY.

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead prec., lists family #127:
John Riddle, 72, farmer; Mary A., 69, wife; John, 25, son; Sophia, 19, wife; Minnie, 2, dau; Amandy, 8/12, dau. Mary and her parents born in New York, others in Ky.

Bath Co. Marriage Bonds, on LDS Microfilm 272003 (no page numbers, each bond is a separate sheet of paper, folded and bundled together):

Meyers are are (sic) held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the just and full sum of L50 current money of Kentucky which payment well and truly to be made unto the said Commonwealth, we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly & severally firmly by these presents sealed & dated this 24th day of Dec 1827. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage shortly intended to be had & solemnized between the above bound John Riddle & Mary Adaline Meyers - Now should there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said intended marriage, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force & virtue in Law. Att J. Ralls D.C. John X Riddle his mark Lewis X Riddle his mark Henry J. Myers

Possibly other children in this family, since there is a rather long gap between the twins Mary and Martha born in 1839, and Commodore born about 1847. If I could find the family in the 1850 census it might help resolve that question.
