| Notes for James Boyd Jones |
James D. Reeder's Riddle charts say that John & Mary Riddle's daughter Nancy married James Boyd Jones. I don't have a marriage record for them.
He and Nancy are buried together in the New Alfrey Cemetery. His stone says J. B. Jones, May 7, 1844 - Mar 18, 1914. But he was listed as age 3 in 1850 and age 13 in 1860. It is not common for a six-year-old to be listed as 3, and it is quite common for elderly people to lose track of their exact age, especially when they were born before recording began, so I suspect the date on the gravestone is the one which is wrong. |

Rina, 16, b. 12-83; son Allie, 10, b. 8-89; dau. Cyntha, 8, b. 2-92; dau. Lucy, 5, b. 3-95. Plus boarders Charley Kendill, 28, b. 5-72, teamster; Charley Felty, 28, b. 4-72, teamster, and Elija Rurgy, 23, b. 3-77, lumber inspector.
1910 census of Rowan Co., Farmers prec., lists as family #150:
James B. Jones, 64; Nancy 60; married 45 years, 13 children, 6 living; dau Cynthia, 20; dau Lucy, 17; son Leonard Foster, 16.
Leonard is probably really a nephew. |
