"Bath Co., Kentucky Deaths 1852-1859" , by The Researchers, P.O. Box 39063, Indianapolis, IN lists S.C. Riddle died 30 July 1853, married, b. Bourbon Co., Ky, age 37, s/o Lewis & Elizabeth Riddle. However, James D. Reeder had S.C.'s life span as ca 1818-1855. If the 1850 census is correct, then S.C. would have been 37 in 1855, so I am assuming that "The Researchers" misread or misentered 1855 as 1853.
Index to Bath Co. probate records lists Stephen C.D. Riddle, Bk. 1, pp. 92-93, 418, and Bk. 2, p. 319. I have not looked these up.
His name is given as Commodore on his son Tillman's death certificate. He was apparently called S.C. to distinguish him from his nephew, the son of John William, or from the elder Comodore Riddle of Morgan Co. |
