Nancy Pettit is the daughter of Benjamin Pettit and Polly Ann Hall, which would make her a granddaughter of Jacob & Nancy. Judging by the birth dates of Benjamin's children, it is likely that Polly Ann died at Nancy's birth or shortly thereafter, and Benjamin did not remarry until about 1868/69, so Jacob & Nancy raised Polly's baby.
1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, lists as family #195:
Jacob Hall, 74; Nancy, 69; Nancy C. (granddaughter), 17.
Note that Nancy (nee Pettit) has switched to her grandparent's surname. All births are listed as Ky Va Va, but Nancy's parents were really both born in Kentucky. |
