Notes for George B. Clark
In 1840 George B. Clark received a grant of 690 acres on Bales Branch, Morgan Co., Ky.

In 1845 George sells to his sister Nancy Bailey of Tazewell Co., Virginia his interest in 370 acres that he inherited from his father Joseph Clark, deceased. Tazewell Co., VA, Deed Book 2, p. 194.
Census
1840 Census of Morgan Co., KY, lists this family on p. 321, last line, as:
George B. Clarke; 3 m < 5, 1 m 40-50, 2 f 5-10, 1 f 30-40. (It appears that I am missing a daughter in the family grouping, since I only know of one daughter who would be in the 5-10 age group. Probably the eldest had already married and left home by 1850.)

1850 Census of Morgan Co., KY, lists this family as:
George B. Clark, 51, VA; Elizabeth, 46, VA; Eliza, 17, VA; John, 15, VA; Leonard, 14, VA; Samuel, 11, VA; Mariah, 9, KY; Mary, 6, KY; Manerva, 10/12, KY. (Samuel's entry suggests the family arrived in Ky in late 1839 or early 1840.)

1860 Census of Rowan Co., KY, (June 10) lists on p. 9, family #63:
G B. Clark, 54, VA; Elizabeth, 50-something (illegible), VA; what looks like "Sanel", male 20, VA; Ellen, 15, KY; Manerva, 11, KY; Emily Bare (?), 8, KY. This entry in general is very hard to read. One would guess that the male age 20 is Samuel, but the next household (#64) is Samuel Clark, 20, living alone, and in that entry the "mu" is distinguishable. Perhaps the Mary age 6 in the 1850 census and the Ellen age 15 in this census are the same person. I have made that assumption and entered a single "Mary Ellen". The "B" in "Bare" could possibly be a K or an R, it curves back at the bottom but does not connect, and is too faint at the top to determine whether it connects or not. Since none of those possiblities makes a normal name, and since this clerk made K's and R's that curve forward instead of back, I figure it is probably a B, and that the middle name is based on a surname.

1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, (taken June 8), Christy Creek prec., lists on p. 1, family #19:
Elizabeth Clark, 65, farmer; b. VA; Minerva, 17; Francis Fraly, 20; farm laborer; Nancy Fraly, 18, domestic servant; Francis & Nancy married within the year, in March; French Brown, 26 (male), farm laborer. (Minerva should really be 20.)
Notes for George B. & Elizabeth (Family)
Tazewell Co. Virginia marriage register 1, p. 94, records a statement "I certify that this is a true list of the marriages solemnized by me in the year 1829, 1st between George M. Neal and Martha Harmon, 2nd between George B. Clark and Elizabeth Flummer," and three more marriages. Entry dated 31 Dec 1829, by Ancel Richardson.
