| 1850 Census of Carroll Co., Va, lists as family #179: Mary Quesenberry, 57, $1000, b. N.C.; Isaac 28; Peter 18; Elizabeth 9; Alfred 7. In his annotations to this census, John P. Alderman writes "Mary's parents were Samuel and Martha Gallimore. Her first husband was Peter Huff (1793-1834) who came here from Floyd Co. and married her in 1821. Peter left Mary a tolerable estate and 7 small children. Isaac and Peter listed here are the two youngest Huff children. Mary remarried Frederick Quesenberry in 1836; he died in the 1840's leaving the two youngest children shown in this census." (If Isaac and Peter were the youngest of the seven Huff children, then Isaac's age in this census is probably wrong, as being 28 would make him b. ca 1822.) 1860 census of Carroll Co., Va, p. 60, Dugspur P. O., lists as family #391/394: Quisenbery, Mary, 60, farmer; Elizabeth, 19, housekeeper; Alfred, 17, farm laborer; Huff, Isaac, 28, farm laborer. 1870 census of Carroll Co., Virginia, Pine Creek district, Hillsville P.O., p. 143, lists as family #334/342: Quesenberry, Mary, 71; Elizabeth, 27; William A., 1. See Elizabeth's notes for 1880 reading. | ||||||||||||
