| Jean Burchett writes in a letter of 3 Oct 1991 "James Downing Sr. b. N.Y. about 1740 - Welsh descent - moved to Va & from there to Ky & was killed by Indians." I am not convinced that the James Downing she writes of is the grandfather of our Dennis Downing, though. It seems more likely that our Dennis's father is the James Downing b. 1770-1779 who was living near him in Henry Co., Indiana in 1830. |
