| Notes for Timothy Dalton |
Bedford County Court Order Book 3, p. 480, records testimony given in 1768 by this Timothy Dalton in which he testifies that he is 53 years old, implying a date of birth in 1714 or 1715.
About 1745 he moved from Louisa Co., Virginia to Brunswick Co., Virginia. Louisa Co. deed book A, pp. 204-205 records that Timothy Dalton Jr. "of Brunswick Co." sold 200 acres that he owned in Louisa County, having received it in a patent on 1 Feb 1738. So by 1738 he was living in Louisa Co., and may have been born there.
The Staunton River area that he bought land in in 1745 became part of Lunenburg Co. when it was formed from Brunswick in 1746, and became part of Bedford Co. when it was formed from Lunenburg in 1753.
Probate of estate 24 Apr 1775, Bedford Co., VA |
| Notes for Elizabeth [Dalton] |
| Many researchers list her maiden name as Talbot, but this is likely to be an error based on overgeneralizing from the facts that Elizabeth Dalton was the witness to Matthew Talbot's will and that Timothy Dalton named a John Talbot as the executor of his will. For further discussion of this issue, see the "Dalton Myths" page at http://www.wam.umd.edu/~jklumpp/gen/dalton/Talbot.html. |
