Census Notes for David M. Clark
David is listed with his mother and stepfather in the 1910 census:
Clarke, David, 26, widowed; Mary S., granddau, 1; grandson Venton I., 7/12. All born in Kentucky.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Kentucky lists as family #197, next to W. P. Dehart:
David Clark, 36; (w) Etta, 36; (s) Levi, 14; (s) Oscar; 16; (d) Mary, 11; (d) Venta, 9; (d) Audra, 8; (d) Oval, 6; (s) Clella, 4 6/12; (s) Clayton, 1 2/12. All born in Kentucky. (The genders for Venta=Venton and Audra do not match Oscar Crum's sketch of the family. I suspect the enumerator did not ask for gender, and assigned them on the basis of name.) Levi and Oscar are sons of Etta and her first husband Steven Hubbard Dehart, even though they are listed as Clarks.
Notes for David M. & Liza (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage book 6, p. 279, records marriage on 20 Nov 1907 of David M. Clark, 23, s/o Sam Clark & Susie Dehart, to Liza Dehart, 18, d/o Wm J. & Mary Dehart, at house of Bill Dehart by F. M. Crisp, witnesses Bill Dehart & Willie Pettit. It is a first marriage for both spouses. The license application is signed by William P. Dehart, his mark. (David's stepfather.) Liza's parents born in Elliott Co., all others in Rowan Co.

Oscar Crumm interviewed 17 Sep 1993 said David Clark married Ettie Dehart, and they had sons Audrey, Oval, Clelly, and Clayton, and daughter Velvie who m. Orear Caskey. Then by his second wife he had Mary Susan, who never married, and son Venton Niley. Oval and Audrey went to New Castle, IN, and died there. Ora Dehart interviewed the same day said David Clark's second wife was Liza Dehart d/o Bill Steve Dehart, and named their children as "Vinton Ollie" and Mary Susan, both of whom never married.

Rowan County marriage records, though, have David's FIRST wife as Liza Dehart d/o William Jefferson Dehart, and his second one as Ettie Conn Dehart, d/o Freeland and Angeline Conn. It is possible he had a third marriage to a daughter of Bill Steve Dehart.

A list of students at Haldeman school for the year 1929-1930 lists as children of David Clark, Clayton age 10, Clelle age 12, Audra born Mar 19, 1912 and Oval born Oct 11, 1913. (Birthdates seem to be given only for the high school students.)
