1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, lists in Hoggtown, family #297:
Henry Scaggs, b. 6/48, age 51; Samantha, b. 6/52, age 47; Mollie, b. 6/83, age 16; Louis, b. 11/85, age 14; Nancy J., b. 5/88, age 12; Oliver, b. 4/90, age 10; Mahala, b. 5/92, age 8; Florence, b. 8/95, age 4; Nancy Slusher (m-in-law), b. 5/20, age 80, widow. Henry & Samantha m. 29 yrs. The census says that they have 6 children, 6 living, and Nancy Slusher has 1 child, 1 living. Obviously they misinterpreted the question to be how many of their children were in the household at the time of the census.
