Notes for Zona Petitt
Millard Petitt said that his sister Zony married "Ern Jennings" when she was about 14. (I always thought that was a nickname for Ernest, until I read her obituary and saw that her husband's name was Aaron.)

Her obituary in the Rowan County News of Thursday, 14 Apr 1994 reads:
MOREHEAD- Zonie Pettit Jennings, 93, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield died Tuesday, April 12, at the St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead.
A homemaker, she was born April 7, 1901, in Rowan County to the late Willie and Molly Evans Petitt. She was a member of the Oak Grove United Baptist Church.
In addition, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Jennings, 1973; two sons, Earl Jennings and Denford Jennings.
Survivors are five sons, Ottis Allen Jennings of Dayton, Ohio; Noah Ray Jennings of Shelbyville, Nelson Jennings, Lonnie Jennings and Lloyd Jennings, all of Clearfield; a Daughter, Ruby Mynhier of Clearfield; two brothers Arthur Petitt of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Millard Pettit of Polksville; three sisters Oda Razor of Dublin , Ohio, Ethel Hall of Flatwoods, and Dessie Gabbard of Bradenton, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for April 15 at 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for funerals in Morehead, officiated by Elder Owen Cox and the Reb Max Molihan with burial at the Crix Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Rowan Co. marriage book 10, p. 167, records the marriage on 26 Jan 1918 of Aaron Jennings, 29, son of David & Mary Jennings, to Zonie Pettit, 16, daughter of William & Mollie Pettit, at the bride's home by W. F. Lambert, United Baptist minister, witnesses Lee Baldridge Sr. and Jesse Pettit.
