Most information on this family is from "Past Images of Rowan County"7, which gives David K. Jones' lifespan as 1853-1915, probably based on cemetery records. The 1880 census reading does not fit well with the lifespans of David's sons John Ed and Wm. H. as reported in that book.
His death certificate (Vol. 17, #08251) records David K. Jones, died 12 Mar 1915, age 63, in Rowan Co., born 1852 (month and day not specified) in Morgan Co., married, occupation farmer, father James Jones, mother Emily McClain, both born Morgan Co., cause of death unknown, informant and undertaker S. P. Manier, place of burial D. K. Jones Cemetery, Craney, Ky.
The daughters Jane and Emmeline may really be the same person. Or else "Past Images of Rowan County" is incorrect in listing Emmeline as a daughter of David K. Jones. Her marriage record to Albert Lewis implies she was born about 1876/1877, and even if it is wrong about her age, it is doubtful she was born after 1880. But the only daughter listed in the David K. Jones family in the 1880 census was Jane age 4. |
