Jesse and Vada were 2nd cousins once removed on the Slusher side, since Jesse's grandfather Joseph Slusher Jr. was a brother of Vada's great-grandmother Mahala Slusher. There may also have been a Jennings connection way back (Vada's great-great-great-great-great-grandmother was Peggy Jennings, daughter of Jonathan Jennings & Diannah Bobbitt), but if so I don't know what it is because I don't know the ancestry of Jesse's father John Milt Jennings.
