Possibly the Frank Pettet listed as age 22 (along with 2 other young boarders) with the Michael Farrish family in the 1870 census of Bath Co., Ky., Bethel precinct, dwelling #111. But if so, he is listed twice in 1870, as he is 23 with his parents.
Cannot find in the 1880 census of Bath, Morgan, or Rowan Co. I haven't checked Elliott or Menifee yet.
1900 census of Rowan Co., Pierce prec., family #52, as:
Benj. F. Pettitt, 57, b. July 1852; wife Mary, 52, b. May 1848; married 16 years, Mary the mother of 5 children, 4 living; Onie Crosthwait (male), 22, b. May 1878. The birthyear for Ben would be off by 4 years if he is the son of Andrew, but the number of years married is definitely off by four years, so it wouldn't be surprising if they got both wrong. The ages for Mary and Onie are also three years less than would be implied by the 1880 census, which listed Mary 35 and Owen 5. |
