| A published index to Lewis Co. marriage records lists Lucinda Pettit m. James M. Poe on "1-8-63". However, about 90% of the marriage dates in that book are listed as "1-8-xx" for some year. This seems so odd that I don't trust the dates in the book. I suspect that this is really the date that the county clerk signed the list that had to be sent to the state auditor each January of all the marriages that were performed in the previous year. |
