| When Nancy's mother Polly (Hall) Pettit died, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Jacob Hall and Nancy Brown. In 1870 she is listed as Nancy Pettit, in 1880 as Nancy C. Hall. See census notes for Jacob Hall. Her middle name may be Cordelia (her father Benjamin Pettit had a much younger half-sister named Nancy Cordelia, but she was born in 1868, six years after this Nancy was born.) | ||||||||
