| Jesse Petitt's family bible1 has two entries following that for the marriage of Abraham Crose and Martha Petitt. The first says "Walter F. Cornet was born November the 7th 1880". The second says "Walter F. Crose was born November the 7 1880". Lila Petitt Chadwell and Ola Petitt McBrayer and others say that this is because Martha Pettit was pregnant by her brother-in-law Jesse Cornett at the time that she married Abraham Crose. Walter was raised as a Crose, though, so I've entered him in this family. |
