The index to Kentucky death records lists Samuel F. Crose d. 20 Apr 1958, age 68, in Boyd Co., residence Rowan Co., certificate Vol. 25, #12020.
The above record implies a birthdate in early 1890 or late 1889, as does his marriage record, but the 1900 census lists Sammie as age 14, born Feb 1886. Entering a 10-year-old as age 14 is a large discrepancy. (Too bad there is no 1890 census.) Howard Crose's database has Sammy's date of birth as 20 Jan 1886. His gravestone says 20 Jan 1900. |
