| Index to Kentucky death records does not list the death of any John Barber in Rowan Co. or nearby. There is, however, a John W. Barbour buried in Brown Cemetery with the dates 1875 - 1959 and a wife named Laura H. Barbour with the dates 1889-1983. |

| Her gravestone in New Alfrey Cemetery says Mattie Barber, wife of J. W. Barber, with the dates Apr 20, 1875 - Aug 29, 1896. But that birthdate conflicts with the date of 18 Sep 1875 I have entered for her brother Tillman Brown. (Obtained from Hal Phillips.) At least one of those dates must be incorrect. So I am entering Mattie's birthdate as 20 Apr 1874 with a question mark. |
