His gravestone in the Coffey-Riddle Cemetery says Amos D. Coffey, Oct 20, 1859 - July 5, 1926. But the Kentucky death index lists Amos W. Coffee, age 67, died 5 July 1926, in Rowan Co., certificate Vol. 38, #18866. According to Shirley Nagy, who ordered that death certificate, it says that his full name was Amos William Coffee, parents Tom and Margaret Coffee, informant Elisha Black.
The marriage certificate for Elisha Black and Nina Coffey also spells his name as Coffey. With these conflicting records I don't know which spelling he preferred, or which middle name is correct. |
