Barbara is a daughter of Andrew's grandson Marvin, son of Robert. She says that her father thought Andrew J. had a sister Mary, and brothers George, Willis, and Levi.
Andrew is probably a grandson of Amos Pettit and Milly Glen of Pendleton Co., since they are the progenitors of all the known Pettits of the Pendleton Co. area. (Lenoxburg, where Andrew was born, is right on the Pendleton/Bracken Co. border, and he appears in the 1870 Pendleton Co. census.) The best possibility is Amos's son George, who married Permelia Porter in 1815 in Pendleton Co. George is not in the 1820 or later censuses of Pendleton Co., so he apparently moved elsewhere, perhaps to Bracken Co. George's family is not known (by me or Steve Navaro, at least), and Andrew had a son George, and according to his grandson Marvin, a brother George. |

(There is considerable disagreement between the ages in this census and the 1870 one, so I am listing most birthdates on this family as a range.) |
