Her obituary in the Rowan County News of Thu, May 1, 1958, read "Mrs. Elizabeth (Pelfrey) Hardin, a member of the Church of God for more than 50 years, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vada Gregory, in Clearfield. Born Jan. 10, 1880 in Elliott County, daughter of the late Beverly and Louisa (Hargis) Pelfrey, she was 78 years of age.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at Clearfield with Rev. B. W. Moore officiating, assisted by Rev. James McKenzie. Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery near the church.
In 1894 she married Alfred Hardin, and they became the parents of four children of whom the following three survive: Mrs. Vada Gregory, Mrs. Arnita Terrell and Mrs. Alberta Jones, all of Clearfield. A son, Willie Hardin, preceded his mother in death. Mrs. Hardin also leaves a sister, Mrs. Flora Riddle, Morehead; and three brothers: John Pelfrey, Flemingsburg; Leslie Pelfrey, East Chicago, Ind.; and Jake Pelfrey, Louisville. Other immediate survivors include 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Stucky and McBrayer."
