Notes for Isaac Newton Jones
Most data on the Isaac Jones family other than census notes is from correspondence with Elaine Winkler.23 , including the name and parentage of Isaac's wife Jane McDaniel.

The two daughters named Lucy Ann is not an error. The first one died at age 11, and when the next child born was a girl, she was also given the name Lucy Ann, but she was always called "Sissie".

Isaac Jones had a large farm partly in Rowan Co. and partly in Elliott Co. In his will he states "I gave to my son, Wells C. Jones, a certain boundary of land beginning at the falls of the first branch above the second crop fence, then west with the cliffs to the falls of the next branch. Then up the branch to the Widow Cornett's line, then east with her line to the first branch aboe the second cross fnece then down the branch to the beginning". Also mentioned in his will were children James D., Levi G., Albert, Hezakiah, George, William F., John, Martha Ann, Mary, Lucyann, Frank, Robert H., and William T., as well as son-in-law Joseph Farman (Foreman). ("Widow Cornett" was Ceattie (Morris) Cornett, the widow of Wesley Cornett.)

Obituary in Ashland Daily Independent and Rowan Co. News, dated June 1, 1882, "Died at the residence of his son-in-law, Joseph Foreman, in this county, on Saturday morning last, of consumption, Isaac Jones, an old citizen. Mr. Jones was upwards of 60 years of age, a kind hearted, honest man."23 (Elaine Winkler's charts give Isaac's date of death as 1 June 1882, but that is the date of the obituary notice. The Saturday previous was May 2x.)
Census
1850 census of Morgan Co., Ky, lists as family #127:
Isaac Jones, 29; Jane, 26; Lemon, 7; Hezekiah, 5; Franklin, 4; Robert, 3; Wells, 2; William, 1; William, 65. All b. in Ky. (The elder William is the son of Ambrose Jones.)

The next household, #128, is the following:
William Sargent, 73, b. NC; Lucy, 68, b. Va; Francis, 16, b. Va; Selina, 14, b. Ky; Martha, 11, b. Ky; William Jones, 7, b. Ky.
(According to Kathleen Cole, the William Jones with this family is William Fleming Jones, son of Isaac N. Jones & Jane McDaniel.)

1860 census of Rowan Co., Morehead, taken June 5, lists as family #38:
Isaac A. Jones, 39, farmer; Jane, 38; Fleming, 17; Hezekiah, 15; Ben. F., 13; Robert H., 12; Wills C., 11; William T., 10; Lucy A., 9; Martha L. M., 8; Sarah E., 7; John, 6; George W., 5; Elias P., 3; James D., 3/12. All b. in Ky.

1870 census of Rowan Co., Christy Creek prec., lists as family #3:
Isaac A. Jones, 49, farmer; Jane, 47; William, 21; Martha, 18; Sarah, 17; John, 15; George, 13; Elias, 12; James, 11; Levi, 10; Albert, 9; Lucy, 7; Mary, 5. All born in Ky. None of the family can write. Only Sarah, John & George can read. (James cannot really be 11, since he was 3/12 in June of 1860. So probably the ages of Levi and Albert are also inflated by a year. Note that Lucy age 7 is the second daughter named Lucy, the first having died in 1861.)

1880 census of Rowan Co., Christy Creek prec., lists as family #414:
Isaac Jones, 53; w Jane, 50; d Ellen P., 22; s James D., 20; s Levi, 18; s Albert, 17; d Lucy A., 16; d Mary A., 15. All born in Ky. (It seems certain that the "daughter" Ellen P. is really their son Elias P.)
Notes for Rebecca Epperhart
Index to Kentucky Death Records lists Rebecka Black, d. 25 Nov 1922, age 88, in Rowan Co., certificate Vol. 51, #25472.
Census
1870 Census of Rowan Co., KY, (June 9) lists this family on p. 2, #11: Rebecca Black, 35, farmer; William, 15; Christina, 13; Margaret, 10; David, 9; John, 6; Johnson, 4; Arminta, 1. All born in KY. (The 1870 census does not list marital status.)

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Christy precinct, lists as family 416 (between Jessee Fraley and Samuel F. Clark):
Rebecca Blak, 45; David, 18; John 16; Johnson, 13; Henry, 8; Martha E., 6. All children listed as sons and daus of Rebecca. According to Dewie Black, the father of Henry and Martha E. was Isaac Newton Jones (who is household #414). They were raised as Blacks. Rebecca is marked as a widow, and also the "died this year" column is checked. I don't know what's going on there; she died in 1922, and her estranged husband John A. Black died in 1899.

1885 tax rolls of Rowan Co. lists on p. 4:
Rebecca Black, 50 acres, neighbor Jesse Fraly, no males over 21, 3 children 6-20. (Other categories of people not enumerated.)
