He is listed in the Social Security death index as "Willie M. Dehart". The M is apparently a misreading of a handwritten H, because his obituary gives his middle initial as "H":
From the Rowan County News of Nov 27, 1952: "William H. Dehart, 63, died Sunday at his residence in Bluestone. He was born Mar 4, 1889 in Elliott Co., son of the late George Dehart and Judy Stigall Dehart, who survives. In 1907 he married Minnie Caskey, who also survives, along with 6 of their 7 children: daughters Mrs. Olive Law and Mrs. Leon Justice, both of Dayton, Oh; and sons Robert, Clayton, Lloyd and Jimmy, all of Bluestone. He is also survived by a brother, Tennyson Dehart, five sisters, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild."
The Elliott County 1901 school census gives his birthdate as 14 March 1888, however. |
