| Most information on this family is from email correspondence in May and June of 1998 with Samuel Riley McKinney <sirsam@email.msn.com>, a son of Glen McKinney, and with Candy Wilcox McKinney, <micajah@maileast.citlink.net>. Curiously, despite her surname and her interest in this family, neither Candy nor her husband Jeff McKinney is related to Samuel Mitchell McKinney. Her research into the family arose as a surprise birthday present for Robert Wayne McKinney, son of Robert Lee McKinney. Wayne's wife Lora is a cousin of Candy on her Wilcox side. |

| In her father's 1931 will, she is listed as Allie Cornett McKinney of Herndon, W.Va. In her mother's obituary in Sept 1959, she is mentioned as a survivor, "Mrs. Allie McKinney, Basin, W. Va." (Herndon is in Wyoming Co., about 12 miles northwest of Matoaka. Basin is also in Wyoming Co. near Herndon.) |
