| Notes for Hattie Fannin |
| Buried with her first husband, H. C. Elam, but the stone has her name as Hattie Elam Bayes, so she must have remarried. The Kentucky death index lists Hattie Bayes, age 82, died 29 Mar 1976 in Rowan Co., residence same. |
| Notes for Henry C. "Pete" & Hattie (Family) |
Rowan Co. marriage book 7, p. 202-203, records marriage on 7 Aug 1910 of Henry C. Elam, 17, s/o Marion & Elizabeth (both b. Morgan Co.) Elam, to Hattie Fannin (I forgot to make a note of her age), d/o Bryant & Lillie Fannin, at church, Bath Co., by J. F. Stamper, witnesses Earnest Elam and Rosa Cassity, surety by D. B. Caudill.
The only Bryant Fannin I could find on the Fannin Genealogy web site of an age to be having children in the 1890's who was married to a wife named Lillie was Bryan M. Fannin who married Lilly Childers on 27 Feb 1893 in Lawrence Co., but they had a daughter named Bertha born in Greenup Co. in 1894, which would seem to be a conflict. It might be that "Lillie" and Nellie Pettit are the same person. Both can be nicknames for Eleanor. On the other hand, there were an incredible number of Bryant Fannins in east Kentucky, including three or four born in the 1860's who do not have marriages listed on the Fannin web site, so I would not trust this conclusion yet. I should try to find the Bryant+Lillie+Hattie family in the 1900 census. |
