His obituary in the Morehead News of 5 Nov 1996 reads, "Otis Clayton Caudill, 76, of Rt. 1, Olive Hill died Thurs., Oct. 31 at the Carter Health Care Center in Grayson after a long illness.
He was born July 7, 1920 at Rowan County to the late Jess Caudill and Lula Lewis Caudill. He was a retired farmer, heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Soldier Church of God.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Caudill on June 8, 1961; three brothers, Oscar Caudill, Allie Caudill and an infant brother; two sisters, Gladys Lambert and Jewell Lambert.
Surviving are his wife, Reba DeHart Caudill of Olive Hill; three daughters, Janet Porter and Kathy Cox, both of Olive Hill and Linda Caudill of Morehead; one brother, Wayne Caudill of Muncie, Ind.; two sisters, Beulah Costa of Deltona, Fla., and Olive DeHart of Grant, Ala. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Jessica Lynn Cox, Mary Beth Cox, and Tina Porter Webb.
Funeral services were scheduled for Sat., Nov. 2 at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with the Rev. Gayle Price and the Rev. Delmar Logan Jr. officiating, with burial at the Caudill Family Cemetery, Soldier."
The cemetery survey by the Rowan County Historical Society, however, lists him as being buried in Brown Cemetery in Morehead. |
