| Census Notes for Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Gregory |
1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearce precinct, lists as part of family #230:
Gregory, Frank, 30, farmer; Farlina, 18, wife; James, 2, son. All born Ky Ky Ky.
This family shares a number with the family of John F. Brown & Matilda, but it may be a mistake rather than an indication of a joint household, because there is no relationship indicated between John Brown and any of the Gregorys. |
| Census Notes for Farlina Stamper |
The 1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearce precinct, lists as family #46:
Stamper, Sarah, 45; Farlina, 8; James, 5. All born in Kentucky.
I don't know whether Farlina and James are children or grandchildren of Sarah. She would have been about 37 when Farlina was born, which is old enough to be a grandmother, but 40 is also young enough to be a mother. The fact that there are no children older than 8 in the household suggests that grandchildren are more likely, since usually women who are having children at 37 and 40 would also be having children before then as well. |
