| Census Notes for Farlina Stamper |
The 1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearce precinct, lists as family #46:
Stamper, Sarah, 45; Farlina, 8; James, 5. All born in Kentucky.
I don't know whether Farlina and James are children or grandchildren of Sarah. She would have been about 37 when Farlina was born, which is old enough to be a grandmother, but 40 is also young enough to be a mother. The fact that there are no children older than 8 in the household suggests that grandchildren are more likely, since usually women who are having children at 37 and 40 would also be having children before then as well. |
| Notes for James A. & Farlina (Family) |
Rowan County marriage book 1, p. 19, records bond issued 25 Nov 1882 for the marriage of Jas A. Ferrand and Farline Grigry, surety by P. G. Day. The marriage is also listed in Register Book A, p. 3, as James A. Ferrand and Farline Gregory, having taken place on 30 Nov 1882, at the bride's residence by D. K. Jones, witnesses Alfred Sparks & his wife.
(The only Farlina Gregory listed in the 1880 census of Rowan, Morgan or Elliott counties is the wife of Frank Gregory, and they were only five households away from family of William and Lucinda Ferrand, so this is almost certainly Frank's widow instead of Gregory being her maiden name.) |
