| Notes for James & Rebecca (Family) |
The Nicholas County Historical Society published a county history containing an article by Margaret Hinton Frye of Paris, Kentucky, which begins with this paragraph:
"James Day, son of Lucy Day, widow, was married in Montgomery County, Va., on April 4, 1786 to Rebecca Waggoner, daughter of Adam Waggoner (d. 1785), a Revolutionary soldier. James and Rebecca were parents of Travis, Peter, Joshua, Sally (married David Fannin), and Jacob (November 17, 1796, Va-Jan. 3, 1838, Morgan County, Ky.) Rebecca died after Jacob's birth; and James remarried to Mary _____ as indicated on a deed in Tazewell County, Va., in 1802 when James and Mary sold land to John Stobaugh. Census records show that James had at least 13 children and may have married three times. He moved from Virginia to Floyd County, Ky, before 1810 and was still living in 1840." |
