Notes for William Madison "Bill Tom" & Mary Susan ("Susie") (Family)
Earl McBrayer and Oscar Crumm both said that Susie married second Bill John Dehart, and then his cousin Bill Tom Dehart after Bill John died. She is buried with William Paul ("Bill John"), though, and died only eight years after he did.

Irene Dehart Conley, a daughter of Daniel Boone Dehart (son of Mary Susan and Bill John), said that Mary Susan married Bill Tom first, and divorced him shortly afterwards because "he was mean to her." This is more consistent with her marriage record to Bill John, which is listed as William P. Dehart and Mary S. Dehart. Since Martha Clark, daughter of her marriage to Sammy Clark, was born in Oct 1887, and she married Bill John Dehart in Nov 1890, the marriage to Bill Tom must have been between 1888 and 1890. I could not find any record of the marriage in Rowan County. It may have occured in Elliott, for which records were burned. I haven't looked for the divorce record; those books are not stored in a public part of the courthouse and you have to request the clerk to look them up by name and year.

All family members agree that there were no children of this marriage and it lasted only about a year.
