1870 census of Lawrence Co., Ky, precinct 2 (Louisa), lists as household #4:
Fannin, David, 70, carpenter; Sarah A., 28; George, 8; Delilah, 6; Emeline, 4; Bryant, 1; Kitchen, Nancy, 10. David born in Virginia, all others in Kentucky. (According to postings on the Carter Co. message board at Rootsweb, Nancy is Sarah's daughter born before her marriage.)
1880 census of Lawrence Co., Ky, precinct 2, lists as household #64:
Fannin, Sarah, 39, widow; Benjamin, 3, son; Mary J., 9/12, born Sept, dau; Delilah, 13, dau.
The birthplaces are all listed as Ky Ky Ky, but for the father's place of birth that is inconsistent with other censuses for at least Sarah and Delilah, since both George Kitchen and David Fannin were born in Virginia. Since Delilah is listed after Benjamin and Mary J. instead of the usual place in the birth order, it is possible that the younger children are Sarah's, but not David's. Note also that the age is significantly off for Delilah; to be consistent with the 1870 census she should be 16.
Sarah and David's other children are listed with her parents, in household #252:
Kitchen, George W., 59, Va Va Va; Elizabeth, 42, wife, Ky Va Ky; Susan A., 12, dau, Ky Va Ky; Fannin, George W., 18, grandson, Ky Va Ky; Bryant, 9, grandson, Ky Va Ky; Lewis, 6, grandson, Ky Va Ky. |
