| Notes for Benjamin Hubbard |
I have received conflicting information about the birth and death dates of this Benjamin Hubbard. Nettie S. Clifton <nettie@erols.com> lists his birthdate as 1713, the birthdate of his first wife Alice as about 1718, and his date of death as 1770/1771, citing a will dated 13 Oct 1770 and an estate inventory dated 21 Mar 177194. Eunice B. Kirkman86 gives his birthdate as about 1743, and his death date as about 1775, but she lists 12 children, of whom 4 were born after 1771, including Hannah born 1778 and Elizabeth born 1780, both after even the 1775 death date in her own files.
Considering that the only known child of Benjamin born before 1762 is Jesse born ca 1760, I consider the birthdates of 1713 and 1718 for Benjamin and Alice from Nettie's files to be rather unlikely. The 1713 may be a confusion with Benjamin's father, also named Benjamin, and the 1718 may have been estimated simply by adding 5 years to the 1713. Without seeing the contents of the will and estate settlement, esp. who is mentioned as heirs, I consider it up in the air whether it is actually the will of Benjamin's father, or whether it is really this Benjamin's will, and the estimated death dates for the children are off by several years. |
